I am the Watches & Jewellery Editor at Vogue Singapore at the moment.

FASHION EDITOR at:
Esquire Singapore (2022 to 2023)
The leading men's magazine in the country. I led the section, managing all editorial output on print and digital relating to style and grooming. This meant writing, editing, styling, art directing and working on all stories relating to lookin' and feelin' good. And, of course, working closely with the sales department to maintain and advance the section's commercial health; the art department to make sure things look good; the creative production department to make photo shoots happen; and external clients, partners and collaborators so we keep things friendly.
I also acted as liaison and project manager between fashion clients and the magazine on matters of commercial projects and collaborations. This included covers, advertorials, sponsored content and the like. Brands and clients I've worked with include: Saint Laurent, Prada, Ralph Lauren, Gucci, Zegna, Suitsupply, Dior, Louis Vuitton, Berluti, Givenchy, Coach, Longchamp, et al.
Part of the scope of work included the management and balance of editorial coverage, casting and booking of models, management of contributors, and oversight of the magazine's editorial vision as it relates to fashion.
Vogue Man Singapore (2023)
Vogue Singapore launched its first ever men's supplement in 2023. I was on the editorial team spearheading this launch, taking charge of the fashion in the book. Responsibilities as before—with the added bonus of working within and adhering to the editorial guidelines and briefs of a Condé Nast international edition as well as the Vogue Singapore editor-in-chief.
WRITER at:
FEMALE Singapore (2021 to 2022)
More specifically fashion writer. But I also wrote stories on beauty, watches and jewellery, and features on culture and people; and styled photo shoots. All of these, naturally, for both print and digital. Some of the highlights include interviews with people like: Chitose Abe, founder of Sacai; Yoon Ahn, founder of Ambush; Veronica Leoni, creative director at Moncler; Silvia Venturini Fendi of, well, Fendi; Ryo Kashiwazaki, founder of Hender Scheme; Gregoris Pyrpylis, creative director of Hermès Beauty.L'Officiel Singapore (2016 to 2017)
Here I covered a majority of the features and written stories for the fashion section. This included regular columns like product features and edits; and long form analysis/op-ed style features on the leading topics of the day. Later, I took over the magazine's Beauty section. There I initiated and executed a refresh of the section that covered editorial and art direction; and managed the section's editorial output.
BETWEEN 2017 AND 2021...
I was a freelance writer, contributing regularly (and sometimes semi-regularly, but you know how things go) to a bunch of outlets. I mostly covered luxury fashion, both mens and womenswear. I've had bylines in these titles:
The Straits Times
Harper's Bazaar Singapore
Buro. Singapore (formerly Buro 24/7, if that matters to you)
Robb Report Singapore
Esquire Singapore
FEMALE Singapore
A+ Singapore (formerly A Magazine)
AND SOMETIME BETWEEN 2018 AND 2020...
I founded the online publication ISSUE—a site dedicated to thoughtful commentary on fashion and culture. The idea was to bridge high editorial standards (the product, if I may say so, of industry experience) and the digital experience of consuming a magazine. The thought at the time was that the two weren't exactly elegant or optimised.
It's now defunct (because it was never conceived as a business, more a creative exercise and proof of concept that something interesting could still be done outside the confines of traditional publishing).

We published some great pieces there. The photographer Lenne Chai's outrageously visionary spread on queer marriage, in response to regional upheavals of archaic anti-homosexuality laws from British colonial history. It's since been exhibited at the Objectifs gallery; covered in press by Dazed & Confused, BBC World News, CNN.
Issue also published Election Season, a photo story—once again by Lenne Chai—that explored the visual messages and cues of politicians.

A profile of the drag queen Becca D'Bus, prodded not to talk about her makeup routine and all that, but queer issues in Singapore. Timed neatly to launch in Pride Month, and lensed in a fabulous spread of audacious presence by photographer Sherman See-Tho, costumed by the tailors at 3Eight and with ludicrously lush headpieces by it floral design studio This Humid House. Fun all around.
Creative direction and design: Miki Charwin
A thoughtful story on eco-anxiety by writer Varsha Sivaram, exploring immobility in the face of overwhelming odds. Light stuff. With a funky, creative layout designed by Issue's creative director Miki Charwin, giving life and form to the subjects and emotions covered by Sivaram.

A deliciously sensual shoot by visual artist Jonathan Liu on the seductive allure of legs and shoes. Inspired and informed, obviously, by the work of luminaries like Helmut Newton.
Hope you like what you’ve seen :)
